Bedtime Rituals

Bedtime is interesting in our home.   Piper loves to fall asleep in her cot.  By 6.30pm every night she is fast asleep.   She established her own routine when she came home and I've stuck to it.  

Ava however, will only fall asleep on the chaise. Unlike Piper, I never really put her into a routine and somehow that has become her routine.  It seems to suit to her and it works for both of us.

For a little while I tried to put Ava to bed in her cot, but it only ended in tears (for her and me).  I then realised why should bedtime be upsetting?  What's the big deal if Ava falls asleep on the chaise? She's happy and besides, I love lying next to her while she sucks her thumb and plays with my hair while falling asleep.  She loves a cuddle, but like most 22 month olds, they don't last too long.  Ash and I often argue over who then gets to pick her up to put her to bed. It's really nice to be able to hold her while she is fast asleep. It's a special treat that won't last forever.
