The Photography Police

Last night I got into trouble for posting these photos on my blog as, "They're shot with a wide angle lens.  You never use a lens of less than 70mm to take portrait photos.  Everybody knows that.  And you certainly never use a wide angle lens.  Which is what you did. Usually 70-105mm is the ideal lens to use, but remember that is in the film scale, so you have to convert that to blah blah, blah blah blah..."
So, here is a cute photo of Piper taken on my phone last Tuesday.

Terrible photo. While one might say the subject is ‘cute’, the execution is wanting. Shutter speed is obviously too slow and the shooter has failed to steady themselves. The subject has failed to consider her pose relative to framing and while some diagonal interest can be desirable, the TGSI’s shown detract from the photo due to their limited influence. The rule of thirds of is ignored and the rounded corners make the photo appear as though we are living in the 1970’s. On the plus side, exposure is not bad, though this was probably set on automatic.
See what I mean! Blah blah, blah blah blah.
Isn't he just the cutest. xx

(For those of you who are unsure, Thooperbad is my goofy husband, Ash)
